Question of the Centennial

"Nil sine numine"* is the official state motto of what Spanish-named U.S. State?
(hint its state capitol is named for a Kansas governor)

*Latin for "Nothing without the Deity (God)" sometimes translated as "nothing without providence."
Answer: (Drag mouse from left arrow to right)
>  Colorado. Governor Gilpin came up with the motto when the state seal was being developed. It might be from Virgil's Aeneid.
The image is of a Stegosaurus, the state fossil of Colorado. And Colorado is also known as the Centennial State, hence the title.  <
