The War to End All Wars

What event precipitated America's involvement in World War One?
(forget about Archduke Ferdinand. That started WWI, but it did not cause America to become involved)
Answer: (Drag mouse from left arrow to right)
>  There are 2 answers, but either one will get you full credit:
1) A german u-boat sank the RMS Lusitania (a passenger vessel) off the coast of Ireland, which got America to notice German War atrocities and America started giving money to the European War effort. (1914)
2) Then the Germans sent the infamous "Zimmerman Telegraph" to Mexico pledging military support to Mexico if it invaded the U.S. The message was intercepted and that's what got American Troops to enter the war. (1917)  <
